About F. Niel Postlethwait Middle
We embrace several exemplary programs here at Postlethwait Middle School. Our Business Professionals of America (BPA) and Technology Student Association (TSA) has won multiple awards at the state and national levels. The Math League and Science Olympiad teams are top contenders as well. Our Junior Honor Society assists the Charlton Program's students with disabilities. Our Concert Band, Women's Choir and Jazz Band all won first place at the annual Music in the Parks competition in NJ. Our new Eco-Team focused on school-wide energy conservation, recycling and maintaining a living classroom in the rear of the campus. Kick Butts Generation (KGB), brings awareness the school community about the dangers of cigarette and tobacco use. We include our parents in many of our programs and invite them annually to participate in our "Turnaround Day", in which a parent comes to school in the place of their child to live a day in the life of their middle school student.
Curriculum
The CR School District has established a curriculum development process which supports alignment to the existing Delaware State Standards and Grade Level Expectations. This process involves teacher and administrative input through a Curriculum Cabinet and Council process. The preparation of our students as life-long learners in a global community of the 21st century society is the unifying objective of this process. The curriculum not only identifies essential knowledge and skills, but also supports students' development in problem solving and gathering and using resources that will enable them to succeed. Each content area (English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Visual and Performing Arts, World Languages, Physical Education, Health, and Family and Consumer Sciences) also has an Assessment OF Learning and Assessment FOR Learning component which offers immediate feedback and data driven assessments aligned with state standards.
